ACCOUNTS AND TAX SUPPORT (Casual / Part-time Role)

 

We are seeking casual Accounts and Tax Support for a new small business in Pazundaung, to provide support navigating Myanmar Tax, DICA requirements and minor book-keeping.  It is a flexible role, and could be equivalent to about TWO (2) days every month, but will vary month-to-month.

 

The main function of this role is to:

  • Help set up very basic accounting documents and system, such as using Google Docs spreadsheets,

  • Help prepare required documents for tax,

  • Accompany the Manager to the local tax office and bank - for language support,

  • Help prepare required documents for Company Minutes, DICA annual return etc,

  • Small simple translations to/from English to Burmese,

  • ...and other ad hoc finance/admin related tasks as needed, 

 

This very flexible role would suit somebody who already works as an Accountant (or similar) in another organisation and would just like to increase their income, with a little bit of side-work in their free time.  Each month we can discuss the work needed, and organise a schedule around your free time.  We can be flexible.

 

Requirements:

  • Experience setting up basic accounts tools, such as budget, general ledger/balance sheets, and any documents required for paying tax

  • A qualification in accountancy (high level not required, it’s more important to have a practical understanding)

  • Knows how to find, read and follow Myanmar tax, finance and business regulations

  • Sufficient working-level English (100% fluency is not required, but adequate spoken is more important, as the foreign manager can support written English)

  • Burmese language (including typing)

  • Knows how to use simple office software like Microsoft, Google Docs and functions like Word, Excel, email, calendar and Google Drive

  • Clear communication and able to “keep things simple” (ie: don’t make too complex)

  • Trustworthy, professional and confidential

  • Solution-focused and is a creative-thinker

  • Flexible and reliable

 

Preferred:

  • Someone who resides (or works) locally in Pazundaung, Botahtaung, Downtown or nearby

  • Someone who can bring their own laptop (if possible)

  • Someone who has in interest in the small business or NGO sector

 

(Current students of accountancy are also very welcome to apply, if they have gained enough practical knowledge of Financial Tools and Spreadsheets)

 

Where, when and how you will work:

  • Yay Dalek Ltd operates from a home-office in a Condo on Ye Kyaw Lan, Pazundaung,

  • The days/hours will be negotiated with the successful person,

  • The working style is collaborative with the foreign Business Owner (Australian).  Together you will discuss and plan the gradual steps for work, develop documents, and solve each financial/administrative task.  This is a kind of teach-&-learn situation, whereby we work together (two people) building a simple Finance and Admin system for a small growing business. 

 

Remuneration and Benefits:

  • The flat rate for any full day worked is 50,000 kyats (pro rata for half days)

  • Because this is a casual role (approx 2 days per month), there are no staff benefits

  • The working environment is very fun and flexible.  We laugh a lot, and you get to learn and practice your professional English (and maybe can share some Burmese language too please).

  • Lunch is provided, plus tea/coffee/snacks

  • You will be part of creating a new and dynamic small social-business which offers professional services to the NGO sector, and provides social-development initiatives
